Communicate - Creating a Meds (Occasional/Emergency) Journals

Modified on Mon, Dec 2, 2024 at 2:11 PM

This guide outlines out to create a Medication journal in the Child Friendly Communicate module. Be sure to view the main Communicate Journals guide first.

The Meds journal is used only for emergency or occasional meds, such as an api-pen or asthma inhaler. The emergency meds need to be submitted and signed by the parent through the parent app. Admin staff can approve it in the Info Changes Dashboard. Once

the emergency medication process is complete, the med will be selectable for the child as a drop-down item under Medications in the Meds journal.

The Meds Journal is not used for Regular medication, such as meds that are administered regularly. These are instead tracked in the Regular Med section of the Dashboard.

You can also download a PDF version of this guide below.

Open the Child’s Profile

  1. Click the Communicate icon on the left hand side to access this module.

      2.  Select the Journal tab.

      3.  Find the child you would like to add the journal to in the list on the left-hand side. You can also search by entering the
child’s name in the Search field.

      4.  Select the child’s name and click the plus (+) symbol to the right, beside the date. The plus sign appears once a
           child’s name has been selected.

Create a Meds (Emergency/Occasional) Journal

  1. From the journal Type drop-down menu, select Meds.
  2. Click the Medications drop-down to view a list of any emergency or occasional meds on file with the child. Select the medication you gave to the child.

      3.  In the Administered by section, add your name.

      4.   Next, add the Time of day the medication was given, and the Dosage (example: 2 puffs).

      5.   In the description box, you must add a reason for your decision to give the medication to the child. Ensure you add
            any symptoms you identified.

      6.   Once you are finished adding all details, click the Submit button. This journal will get posted right away for parents to
            view.
